Funeral processions are serious, somber moments and for many people, are planned to represent and reflect something about the way the deceased lived. Unfortunately for people who were passionate about nature, environmental activism, or the latest in automotive technology, there has not been a way to reflect that passion in the hearse that took them on their last ride. But that has changed with the creation of the all-electric Tesla Hearse.
This Tesla Model S based hearse was made by a vehicle upfitter in Norway named Jan Erik Naley. Naley’s been turning upscale luxury sedans into hearses and other specialty vehicles for years, and the car shown here is just the latest in a growing stable of clean, efficient vehicles repurposed to serve a number of the community’s needs. He has done an incredible job with the fit and finish of the car, using rich materials refined to a high polish. You can see all of that craftsmanship for yourself in the photo gallery Naley provided below.
The exquisite marriage of craftsmanship with cutting edge technology does come at a high cost, however. With the Tesla Model S itself already being expensive, this EV hearse costs $207,000 (SEK 1,999,000) and Naley has already sold three (3) of them at the time of this writing.
Whatever your thoughts on this unique vehicle might be, its development is a testament to the growing inclusion of EVs into society and shows the versatility of the electronic powered platform.
